Player of the Week
Elena Bowman, Manhattan
Jr., Catcher, 5-8, San Mateo, Calif./Aragon
Bowman hit .778 over the Jaspers’ first four games of the season, reaching base in 13 of 15 plate appearances. She had at least one hit in each contest, including three straight two-hit games to start the season. Bowman went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored against Binghamton on Saturday, then had two more hits, including a double in the Jaspers’ 6-2 win over Hartford. In the 15-8 victory over the Hawks on Sunday, she reached base all five times, going 2-for-2 with three walks and an RBI while also scoring a run. Bowman had a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .867 in the four games.
Pitcher of the Week
Sydney Underhill, Monmouth
So., Pitcher, 5-10, Temecula, Calif./Chaparral
Underhill allowed just two earned runs in seven innings pitched over three games this weekend. She started the weekend by allowing four runs, but just one earned, on six hits and a walk against Morehead State. She then picked up the save, allowing one run on three hits and a walk to Fairfield over the last two innings. Though not a save situation, Underhill pitched a 1-2-3 last inning against Campbell.
Rookie of the Week
Jessica Harkness, Iona
Fr., Pitcher, 5-3, Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran
Freshman Jessica Harkness posted a 4.05 ERA over 13.1 innings pitched at the Charleston Southern Tournament. Against the host Bucs, Harkness pushed the Gaels to a victory with a complete game, going seven innings and scattering one run on six hits and five walks.
