Lundgren, Riddle and Berry Earn Water Polo Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. - Jess Lundgren and Emily Riddle of Wagner College, and Catie Berry of VMI are the MAAC Water Polo Weekly Award winners.

Junior center Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/ Mountain Creek) rattled the cage for 27 goals in Wagner’s eight games on the week highlighted by her seven goal effort in a 14-8 win over Whittier. Lundgren combined for 41 points as she tallied 14 assists in the Seahawks eight game span which saw the team claim six victories including wins over ranked opponents Santa Clara and San Diego State.

Sophomore goalie Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett) was a force in the net once again as she recorded 52 saves in the Seahawks eight game stretch which saw the team claim six victories. Riddle posted a goals against average of 8.25 on the week and delivered a masterful 11 save performance in the Seahawks upset win over No. 12 San Diego State.

Returning to her home state for the first time as a collegiate player, Berry had quite the week. She was the keeper for three of VMI’s four wins this past week, including the first shutout in program history, a 16-0 win over Macalester on March 15. Berry also was the keeper for wins over Chapman and Fresno Pacific.

The 2015 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held on April 25-26 at McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, New York.
