MAAC ANNOUNCES 2014-15 ALL-MAAC MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS

EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announces the 2014-15 Men's Basketball All-MAAC Teams, selected by the league’s 11 head coaches.

The first team is made up of A.J. English and David Laury from Iona College, Emmy Andujar from Manhattan College, Justin Robinson of Monmouth University, Zaid Hearst from Quinnipiac, and Matt Lopez of Rider University. English and Laury were unanimous selections to the first team. These six players are now eligible to be named the 2014-15 MAAC Player of the Year, also selected by the head coaches of the league. The winner will be announced on Friday, March 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Swyer Theater at the Egg. The show will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

English, a 6-foot-4, junior guard from Wilmington, Deleware, was named to the All-MAAC First Team for the second consecutive season after leading Iona to the MAAC regular season title. He ranks third in the MAAC in scoring averaging 19.5 points, and leads the league in assists, averaging 5.2 per game. A unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, English also leads the conference with 3.0 made three-point field goals per contest and was named MAAC Player of the Week on Nov. 24.

Laury, a 6-foot-9, senior forward from East Orange, New Jersey, was a unanimous choice to the All-MAAC First Team after leading Iona to the MAAC regular season crown. He finishes the regular season averaging 20.1 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game which are both good for second in the league rankings. Laury’s 16 double-doubles ranks second in the MAAC and is in the top 10 nationally. The 2014-2015 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year earned MAAC Player of the Week honors three times this season.

Andujar, a 6-foot-6, senior forward from the Bronx, New York, had an outstanding season for the Jaspers as he became the first player in program history to record 1,200 points, 700 rebounds, 300 assists, and 150 steals in a career. He finished the regular season ranked fifth in the league in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Andujar was second in the MAAC in steals with 2.1 per outing and ranked fifth in both field goal percentage at 50.9 and assists with 3.5 per contest. He earned the MAAC Player of the Week award on Mar. 2.

Robinson, a 5-foot-8, sophomore guard from Lake Katrine, New York, helped guide Monmouth University to a 13-7 MAAC record and No. 4 seed in MAAC Championship. He was 12th in the conference with a 13.4 points per game average and fourth in assists with a 3.8 average. Robinson’s 1.7 steals per contest ranks sixth in the league and his 2.0 assists to turnover ratio is good for second. He won MAAC Player of the week on Dec. 8 this season.

Hearst, a 6-foot-4, senior guard from Bethesda, Maryland, helped lead the Bobcats as the nation’s best rebounding team. He is fourth in the MAAC in scoring averaging 18.4 points per game, and 11th in rebounding with 6.2 rebounds per outing. Hearst leads the league in minutes played averaging 36.8 minutes per contest. The two-time MAAC Player of the Week selection recorded 2.4 offensive rebounds per game, which is good for ninth in the conference.

Lopez, a 7-foot, senior center from Erial, New Jersey, earns a spot on the All-MAAC First Team in his first year on the court for the Broncs. He scored 12.3 points, good for 18th in the MAAC, and grabbed 7.7 rebounds, good for third in the league. Lopez’s 58.4 field goal percentage is the best in the conference and his eight double-doubles is third best in the league. He was named MAAC Player of the Week on Feb. 9.

The 2014-15 All-MAAC Second Team is made up freshman guard Schadrac Casimir of Iona College, Marist College senior swingman Chavaughn Lewis, senior center Ousmane Drame from Quinnipiac University, Rider University junior guard Teddy Okereafor, and Saint Peter’s senior forward Marvin Dominque.

This season's third unit is also a formidable group. The Third Team consists of Canisius College sophomore guard Zach Lewis, Fairfield University junior forward Marcus Gilbert, Manhattan College junior forward Ashton Pankey, Monmouth University junior guard Deon Jones, and Siena College senior guard Rob Poole.
