Mossop, Sirianni, and Evans Take Home Weekly Awards in Women's Lacrosse

Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Mossop, Siena
Sr., Midfield, 5-8, Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland/Robert Morris
Mossop totaled 10 points on eight goals and two assists in a pair of blowout road wins last week for the Saints. On Tuesday, she tallied four points on a pair of goals and assists and added two groundballs, a draw control and a caused turnover in the Saints’ 12-3 rout of Binghamton. On Saturday she netted six goals – one shy of her own program record – as the Saints defeated LIU Brooklyn 20-8. Mossop added three draw controls in the win for the red-hot Saints which have now won four in a row.
Defensive Player of the Week
Julia Sirianni, Siena
Sr., Defense, 5-7, Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga/UAlbany
Sirianni won 12 draw controls, picked up two groundballs and caused two turnovers in leading the Saints to a pair of convincing road wins last week. She anchored a Siena defense which held Binghamton scoreless for 48 minutes on their home turf in a 12-3 win Tuesday. Matched up primarily on the Bearcats’ top two scorers Brianne Arthur and Callon Williams, she limited the duo to just one total point, while personally winning six draw controls and picking up a groundball and causing a turnover. On Saturday, she again quarterbacked a Siena defense which held LIU Brooklyn – the nation’s seventh best scoring offense entering the day at 14.8 goals – to single digits for the first time this season in a 20-8 rout. Matched up on the nation’s second leading scorer entering play Jenn Peters and Mary McQueen, she held the duo to four points. Again Sirianni won six draw controls, picked up a groundball and caused a turnover while adding an assist for the red-hot Saints which have won four in a row.
Rookie of the Week
Erica Evans, Canisius
Fr., Midfield, 5-8, Peterborough, Ontario/St Peter’s Secondary
Despite getting injured in the Duquesne game, freshman Erica Evans still had a very strong performance this week, helping the team to a victory over the Dukes on Wednesday evening. Evans had a team leading three goals against Duquesne, increasing her total to 10 over a three game span. Evans also recorded a .750 shot percentage and had five ground balls and a caused turnover in just one appearance this week.
