Lundgren, Henry, and Begg Earn Water Polo Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. - Jess Lundgren and Elise Begg of Wagner College, and Skyler Henry of Marist are the MAAC Water Polo Weekly Award winners.
Junior center Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/ Mountain Creek) rattled the cage for 10 goals as the Seahawks went 2-0 on the opening weekend of MAAC play with victories over Siena and VMI. Lundgren recorded seven assists to bring her weekend point total to a staggering 17 while also drawing six exclusions.
Junior goalie Skyler Henry made 34 saves for the Red Foxes and gave up just 12 goals against in a perfect 4-0 start to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. Henry made 16 saves and gave up seven goals against in a 14-8 win over VMI in the first MAAC game of the season. In a 20-5 win over St. Francis, Henry gave up only one goal against and made three saves. Henry made nine saves, one assist and gave up two goals against in a 10-3 win over Villanova. In the final game of the weekend, Henry made six saves and gave up two goals against in a 17-3 win over Siena.
Freshman Elise Begg (Newbury, CA/ Newbury) found the back of the net six times while passing out five helpers in the Seahawks two victories this past weekend. Begg’s shot was on target as she scored on 54% off her attempts while also drawing an exclusion with her aggressive play.
The 2015 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held on April 25-26 at McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, New York.
