Saint Peter's Men, Albany Women Top the Leaderboard After First Round

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL. – Following the opening round at the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s & Women’s Golf Championships at Disney’s Magnolia Golf course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, top-seeded Saint Peter’s leads all men’s teams, while the University at Albany, also the top ranked team in the field, sits atop the leaderboard on the women’s side.
The Peacocks, paced by the men’s individual leader, Brian Grubbs, are even par (288) after 18 holes. Grubbs is four shots under par (68), to find himself two strokes in front of Evan Deluca of Iona College and Steve Burak of Fairfield who are tied for second with identical scores of -2 (70).
Monmouth is second behind Saint Peter’s at 295, while Iona (296) and Fairfield (297) round out the top four at third and fourth, respectively.
Albany, which finished with an opening round score of +15 (303), boasts the top individual golfer of the day in Paige Fujihara. Fujihara was two over par (74), and teammate Yoorim Kang finished the day tied for second with Siena’s Victoria Nguyen, as they both finished three over par at 75.
First-year league member Dayton and Fairfield are both tied for second after shooting +28 (316) on the first day. Quinnipiac is close behind in fourth place at +29 (317).
