Monmouth Wins 2015 MAAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

West Long Branch, N.J.- The Monmouth University Men's Track and Field team captured its second-straight title at the 2015 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Monmouth University on Sunday, May 3 in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
The Hawks won the meet with a score of 266 points. Manhattan College finished second with 181 points. In third place was Rider with 127 points. Iona placed in fourth with 117 points. Saint Peter’s finished fifth with 59, while Marist placed sixth with 38 points. Rounding out the standing was Canisius with 23 points.                      

Taylor Bernstein of Monmouth University was named the Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. Bernstein won the men’s shot put with a throw of 17.85m. He also won the men’s discus with a throw of 54.65m.

Dylan Capwell of Monmouth University earned Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. He broke the MAAC Championship record in in 800m run with a time of 1:47.24 and also broke the 4x400m relay with teammates Malcolm Chavis, John Malespina and Ben Boyd with a time of 3:12.73. Capwell was also on the winning 4x800m relay with a time of 7:39.07.

Joe Compagni of Monmouth University was named the 2015 Men’s Coach of the Year.

New MAAC records set during the final day of competition included Monmouth’s 4x100 meter relay with Jalen Walker, Eric Kahana, Bryan Sosoo and Ahmier Dupree (41.06), and Ben Boyd of Monmouth in the 400m dash (47.76).
