Iona College Wins 2016 MAAC Women's Cross Country Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Iona College claimed its 11th team championship in the past 12 years, beating Quinnipiac University by two points, 49 to 51, it is the third closest MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championship history. Manhattan beat Marist by one point in 2002 and Marist & Manhattan tied back in 1999.
Canisius College sophomore Siobhan Quinn is the 2016 MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championship Individual Winner, posting a 21:19.30, which is the fourth best time in course history here at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in the Women’s 6K.
Megan McGarrity of Rider University finished in second place with a time of 21:27.61. This is the highest finish for a Bronc in program history and 7th fastest time in course history down here at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in the Women’s 6K.
The 2016 MAAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year is Kaitlin Bakas from Quinnipiac University. Bakas finished with a time of 21:58.37. Joining Bakas on the 2016 MAAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie Team is Ellie Songer from Quinnipiac University, Alexandra Bartolotta from Marist College, Julia Flower from Iona College, and Gemma Nuttall from Iona College.
