2016 MAAC Volleyball Major Awards Announced

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2016 volleyball major award winners and All-MAAC teams, as selected by the league’s 10 head coaches.
The 2016 MAAC Rookie of the Year is Megan Fergus from Marist College. Fergus led Marist with 280 kills and 2.77 kills per set. The freshman has a .223 hitting percentage and was named MAAC Rookie of the Week four times this season.
The 2016 MAAC Setter of the Year is Veronica Koval from Rider University. Koval ranked first in the MAAC with 48 service aces and ranked third in the conference with 8.93 assists per set, totaling 929 on the year.
The 2016 MAAC Co-Libero’s of the year are Lexi Millington from Marist and Rylee Hunt from Niagara.
Millington recorded 44 service aces (0.42 per set), which was tied for the second-most service aces per set in the conference. The senior ranked second in the MAAC with 4.77 digs per set and compiled a total of 496 digs this season to lead Marist.
Hunt ranked third in the MAAC with 4.62 digs per set and led Niagara with a total of 508 digs. The junior was named the Libero of the Week on November 8. Hunt recorded 20 or more digs in nine matches this season, totaled 30 digs on three occasions, and tallied a season-high 32 digs on November 12 against Manhattan.
The 2016 MAAC Player of the Year is Skyler Day from Fairfield University. Day led the MAAC with 450 kills and 4.25 kills per set. She was named MAAC Player of the Week three times this season.
The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Coach of the Year is Todd Kress of Fairfield University. Kress led the Stags to the Regular Season Championship after the team went undefeated (18-0) in conference play. Kress is now a five-time MAAC Coach of the Year.
