Jackie Benitez has started the 2016-17 season as the Saints leading scorer. She went 7-for-12 (58.3%) from behind the arc against the number 14/13 ranked Syracuse team. Her seven three-pointers were a career-high and finished the game just one trey shy of a program record. Benitez followed up that game with a standout performance against Hartford. The sophomore guard drained 10 field goals, for a new career-high and set a career-high with 30 points. She is averaging 25.5 points per game. Benitez shot 58.6% from the field, 59.1% from behind the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line. Over the two games she pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out four assists, and recorded six steals.

Rebekah Hand, Marist

Rebekah Hand averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the Red Foxes averaging 37.0 minutes played in Marist’s two games this week. In her first game, Hand scored 11 points on 5-for-14 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds, while dishing out three assists. In Hand’s second game, she recorded her first career double-double, leading both teams in scoring with 20 points and collecting 11 rebounds, four of which were offensive. Hand also dished out three assists and went 9-for-11 from the free-throw stripe setting career bests in both free-throws made and attempted.
