Ann Burgoyne Scores Golden Goal to Send Fairfield to the 2016 MAAC Field Hockey Championship Game

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – In the first two minutes of overtime between the second seeded Fairfield Stags and the third seeded Bryant Bulldogs, senior captain Ann Burgoyne scored the game-winning goal for the defending MAAC Field Hockey Champions, Fairfield University to give the Stags the 3-2 win over the Bulldogs.
The Stags tied the game up at two at the 68:19 mark of the second half when Emma Clark scored on an assist from Julie de Pauew. Burgoyne scored her second goal of this semifinals contest in overtime after putting the Stags on the board in the first half with a goal at the 8:49 mark.
Fairfield University will now face the winner of today’s second semifinal matchup between top seeded Monmouth University and fourth seeded Rider University.
