DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias ECAC Men’s & Women's Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending Feb. 21.
Rookie of the Week
Micah Seaborn – Monmouth University, R-Fr., Guard, Arlington, Texas
Seaborn averaged 20.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in three contest for the Hawks last week. Seaborn topped a career-high with 26 points in the win over Saint Peter’s, hitting 8-of-17 from the field and three triples. He was 7-7 from the line in that game and 10-for-10 on the week in two conference wins, shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, 47.1 percent from deep and was perfect from the line. Seaborn had 22 in the win over Manhattan on 8-13 FG, and totaled 15 rebounds, six assists and six steals on the week
Rookie of the Week
Maria Welch – Canisius College, Fr., Guard, Erie, Pa.
Welch proved to be one of the most dangerous players on the court for Canisius last weekend, averaging 20 points, 4.5 rebounds per contest and shot an accurate 40 percent from the field (15-30). In the team’s win over Manhattan, Welch paced the squad with 17 points, chipping in three rebounds and one block. She was accurate from beyond the arc draining 4-of-10. In the Griffs loss to Monmouth, Welch helped keep Canisius within striking distance she notched a career-high 23 points, took down four rebounds and added an assist in the loss. She is now averaging 15.2 points in the last six contests.
