Offensive Player of the Week
Sarah Croutier, Siena
Sr., A, 5-4, Rockville Centre, NY/Kellenberg Memorial
Croutier erupted for 11 points and added five groundballs, five draw controls and four caused turnovers in two games in another strong all-around week for the Saints. Croutier was remarkably efficient, scoring on nine of her 11 shots, while putting 10 of her 11 targets on goal. On Wednesday, Croutier scored a season-high six points on four goals and two assists, while adding four groundballs and causing three turnovers in the Saints’ victory over LIU Brooklyn. Croutier tallied five of her six points and scored all four of her goals including the game-winner during a decisive 12-goal run that put the Saints back in front for good. On Saturday, she recorded season-highs of five goals and four draw controls at Vermont. It marked the senior’s fourth four-plus goal contest in the Saints’ first eight games as Croutier took over sole possession of fourth place on the program’s all-time scoring list.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lauren Smith, Siena
Sr., M, 5-6, Menands, NY/Shaker
Smith won 12 draw controls, picked up seven groundballs and caused three turnovers in a stellar defensive week for the Saints. She also added four points on a pair of goals and assists on the offensive side of the field. Smith tallied three points and won a career-high 10 draw controls and picked up four groundballs and caused two turnovers in the Saints’ victory over LIU Brooklyn Wednesday. On Saturday, she won two more draw controls, scooped three groundballs and caused a turnover at Vermont. Against the Catamounts, Smith recorded both her milestone 100th career point and groundball, to become the 11th player in program history to eclipse 100 career points and just the second with 100 points, 100 groundballs and 100 draw controls.
Rookie of the Week
Caroline Crump, Niagara
Fr., A, 5-10, Kingston, NY/Kingston
In the Purple Eagles’ lone game of the past week, Caroline Crump broke out with a stellar offensive performance, tallying five goals and assisting on the game-winning goal in a 12-11 home victory over the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers on March 18. Crump’s five goals are the most for a Purple Eagle in one game since Carrie-Jo Farrugia and Taylor Wolf scored six times each on Apr. 18, 2015 against Manhattan. In addition to her Niagara team-leading 12 goals through seven games played, Crump ranks in the top 10 in the MAAC with eight assists.
