Bowman, Butts, and Hankins Claim Softball Weekly Accolades

Player of the Week
Elena Bowman, Manhattan
Sr., C, 5-8, San Mateo, CA/Aragon
Bowman belted four home runs and hit .455 in four games at the SJU Invitational. Her first long ball of the year accounted for Manhattan’s only run in a 2-1 loss to St. John’s on Friday. She then went deep twice against Samford on Saturday. Bowman concluded the tournament by reaching base all four times on a solo homer and three walks in an 11-2 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday. She scored five runs, drove in five, slugged 1.545 and had an on-base percentage of .600 in the four games.
Pitcher of the Week
Lauren Butts, Siena
So., P, 5-11, West Chester, PA/Henderson
Butts recorded her fifth win of the season on Friday as the Saints beat Sacred Heart by a final of 7-2. The sophomore tossed another complete game in the circle and had six strikeouts and six walks. She currently ranks first on the Siena pitching staff in wins (5), earned run average (3.41), and strikeouts with 39.
Rookie of the Week
Courtney Hankins, Fairfield
Fr., IF, 5-4, Pennsville, MJ/Pennsville
Hankins batted .500 for the week with two home runs and seven RBI in a 2-1 week for the Stags. She opened the week with five RBI in a win over Stony Brook, including a grand slam which was her first home run at Alumni Softball Field. She also added a two-run homer in the team’s win against Holy Cross later in the week. Hankins also scored four runs, coming home twice against Stony Brook and Holy Cross.
