Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Named One of Albany's Champions by Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau

Albany, NY – The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau announced its list of Albany Ambassadors and Albany Champions today. These are the Albany volunteers and hospitality industry professionals who support and build our tourism industry locally, and they will be honored at the Bureau’s annual Hospitality Excellence event, held March 31, at 5:30pm at the Renaissance Albany.

Albany Ambassadors are the volunteers who bring meetings and events to Albany, building new business and civic pride. The 2015 Albany Ambassadors were responsible for bringing over 3,620 delegates to Albany in 2015, and their meetings filled more than 3,978 hotel rooms in Albany, translating to more than $1.9 million direct spending.

“We commend this group of volunteers and professionals for their commitment to promoting Albany as a destination for meetings. We know that the tourism industry delivers big benefits to our local economy and residents. Last year, travelers spent nearly a billion dollars in Albany County, and that spending supported 15,000 jobs; that’s 10% of total employment for the county. Our thanks to these individuals for contributing to this valuable business,” said Michele Vennard, President/CEO of the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
