Tricia Fabbri Named The Rock MAAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year

ALBANY, NY – In her 21st season on the sideline as head coach of the Quinnipiac University women’s basketball head coach. Tricia Fabbri was named 2015-16 The Rock Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

Fabbri led Quinnipiac to its second straight MAAC regular season championship in a season where her Bobcats won its final 17 MAAC games, including a defeat of Iona on the last day of the regular season to secure the crown.

Over the last two seasons combined, the Quinnipiac Bobcats 37-3 in conference play. Quinnipiac lost its first three games in conference play this year before embarking on its 17 game win streak. The Bobcats are the first team since the 2004-05 Marist College Red Foxes to lose its first three conference games and win its remaining MAAC slate.

Fabbri had two members of her regular season champion squad named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team, Aryn McClure and Paula Strautmane combined to win seven MAAC Rookie of the Weeks awards. McClure was also named the MAAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year. Senior Maria Napolitano was named to the All-MAAC Second Team this season.

The Bobcats will look to have repeat success from last year. In 2014-15, Fabbri guided the Bobcats to their fourth straight 20-win season, third straight appearance in the conference championship game and their fourth straight trip to a national postseason tournament as Quinnipiac won the MAAC and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.

Fabbri is now a two-time MAAC Coach of the Year.
