Marist College Moves Onto MAAC Women's Basketball Championship Semifinal

ALBANY, NY – The third quarterfinal matchup of the 2016 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship saw the third seeded, Marist College Red Foxes, defeat sixth seeded Manhattan College, 70-58 at the Times Union Center.

The Red Foxes were led by the All-MAAC First Team duo of Tori Jarosz and Sydney Coffey. Jarosz, the 2016 MAAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. Coffey added 21 points and five rebounds. She was 12-for-13 at the free-throw line.

For the Jaspers, Amani Tatum, the 2016 MAAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Kayla Grimme finished a double-double, posting ten points and 11 rebounds.

Marist College now moves onto the MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship semifinal to face two seeded Iona College on Sunday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN3.

The 2016 MAAC Women’s Championship title game will take place on Monday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. and will air live on ESPNU with the winner earning the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
