Player of the Week
Colleen McWilliams, Marist
So., OF/1B, 5-6, Monrovia, CA/La Salle
McWilliams had a 2.498 OPS this past week as Marist went 6-0, and outscored its opposition 57-5. She hit .733 (11-for-15) with a .765 on-base percentage and a 1.733 slugging percentage. She scored nine runs and drove in seven, and hit safely and scored at least one run in all six games. Six of her 11 hits went for extra bases, with four homers, a double, and a triple. She also had four multi-hit games. McWilliams also drew two walks, stole a base, and had a sacrifice bunt. In the first game of a doubleheader against Hartford on April 13, she homered in all three of her at bats and drove in five runs in Marist’s 10-0 win. In the second game, she went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored, and a walk in Marist’s 5-3 victory. In the first game of a doubleheader against Saint Peter’s on April 16, she went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base in Marist’s 8-0 victory. In the second game, she hit a two-run homer in the first inning of Marist’s 22-1 win. In the first game of a doubleheader against Quinnipiac on April 17, she went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Marist’s 8-0 triumph. In the second game, she doubled, scored a run, and had a sacrifice bunt in the Red Foxes’ 4-1 win. Playing center field and first base, McWilliams had nine putouts and no errors. She also struck out just once the entire week.
Pitcher of the Week
Jayne Oberdorf, Marist
Jr., P, 5-5, Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem
Oberdorf pitched a no-hitter, and had an ERA of zero in two appearances this past week, which covered 10.2 innings. She went 2-0 with 12 strikeouts, while allowing just two hits and one walk. In an 8-0 victory over Saint Peter’s on April 16, Oberdorf started and went 5.2 innings. She struck out seven, did not walk anyone, and allowed just two hits. She threw 58 of her 87 pitches for strikes, and retired the first 11 Peacocks she faced. Against Quinnipiac on April 17, Oberdorf threw her first collegiate no-hitter in Marist’s 8-0 victory in five innings. She struck out five, walked just one, and threw just 59 pitches (40 strikes). In her two appearances, no runner reached third base. The opposition hit .057 against her.
Rookie of the Week
Claire Oberdorf, Marist
Fr., 2B/C, 5-6, Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem
Oberdorf had an OPS of 1.640 as Marist went 6-0 this past week and outscored its opposition 57-5. She hit .611 (11-for-18) with a .696 on-base percentage and .944 slugging percentage. She totaled nine runs scored, seven RBIs, seven stolen bases in seven attempts, two home runs, four hit by pitches, and one walk. Oberdorf had four multi-hit games this past week, five games with scoring a run, and five games with an RBI. In the first game of a doubleheader against Hartford on April 13, she went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base in Marist’s 10-0 win. In game two, she was hit by a pitch to force home a run in Marist’s 5-3 win. In game one against Saint Peter’s on April 16, she was 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs scored and a hit by pitch in Marist’s 8-0 win. In game two, she was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a homer, and a walk in Marist 22-1 victory. In the first game against Quinnipiac on April 17, she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base as Marist prevailed 8-0. In the second game, she homered, stole a base, and was hit by two pitches in Marist’s 4-1 win. Oberdorf made four starts at second base and two at catcher this past week. She handled all 23 of her fielding chances without committing an error (13 putouts, 10 assists).
