Manhattan Eliminates Monmouth Behind Jacques Complete Game in 2016 Baseball Championship

FISHKILL, NY – No. 6 Manhattan defeated No.3 Monmouth, 8-1, in game 7 of the 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship. Manhattan advances in the loser’s bracket to face No. 2 Siena tomorrow at 3:30pm, while Monmouth is eliminated from the tournament.
Manhattan pitcher, Joe Jacques pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and no earned runs with four strikeouts to earn the victory.
Offensively, Manhattan used two separate four run rallies in the second and fifth innings to pick up its eight runs. Jason Patnick went 2 for 5 and had a team best, three RBIs and added two runs while Michael Pfenninger crossed home plate twice and recorded two RBIs of his own.
The 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship is a double-elimination style tournament. The championship game takes place on Saturday, May 28 at noon with the, if necessary game taking place at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of the 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Baseball Selection Show will be on Monday, May 30 on ESPNU at noon.
