Player of the Week

Jake Lumley, Canisius

Jr., 2B, 6-0, Windsor, Ontario/Holy Names

Jake Lumley was the Griffs offensive leader this week, helping the Blue and Gold to a 4-1 week, defeating Cornell in a doubleheader and besting Youngstown State 2-1. Lumley finished the weekend hitting .556 from the dish, recording 10 hits in 18 at bats. He also recorded six RBI and two runs to aid the Canisius effort. Lumley was the model of consistency for the Griffs recording at least one hit in all five contests, and recording a week-high three hits against the Big Red on Tuesday. Over the weekend he also notched a pair of hits in all three contests. Sunday proved to be his biggest offensive output as he recorded all six of his RBI against the Penguins, with the highlight coming on one swing of the bat, drilling a grand slam to break the game open. Lumley finished the week with a .591 on base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage to go along with one stolen base.

Pitcher of the Week

Frank Trimarco, Monmouth

Sr., LHP, 6-1, Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun

Trimarco’s stellar outing at Quinnipiac Friday set the tone for the entire weekend. He fired a complete game two-hit shutout, walking just one and striking out 10. QU hit just .069 against him on the day, while Trimarco struck out the side in order twice and retired the side 1-2-3 in seven separate innings on Friday

Rookie of the Week

John Signore, Fairfield

Fr., RHP, 5-11, Wallingford, CT/Xavier

Freshman John Signore became the first MAAC freshman of the season to throw nine innings in a game when he threw nine innings and allowed just a first inning run against Manhattan. Although he did not figure in the decision, Signore stuck out six and did not walk a batter in the outing. After he allowed the first run in the first, he retired 10-straight Jaspers and allowed one hit over the next six innings. He had to get out of trouble in a tied game in the ninth, after the first two batters reached. Signore got out of the threat and kept the Stags tied.
