Marist's Ediger, Canisius' Lopez Acosta & Leonard Claim MAAC Volleyball Weekly Awards
Player of the Week
Kelsey Ediger, Marist

Kelsey Ediger helped lead Marist College to a (3-0) week against MAAC opponents to improve the Red Foxes’ conference mark to (6-2) this season. She posted seven kills and 13 digs in a sweep of Quinnipiac University on Wednesday, October 4, and hit .467 in a shutout victory at Saint Peter’s University on Saturday, October 7. Ediger recorded 22 kills and 23 digs against Rider University on Sunday, October 8. Her 22 kills against the Broncs were a season and a match-high. In the three road contests she averaged 3.70 kills and 4.10 digs per set.
Libero of the Week
Sofia Lopez Acosta, Canisius
Jr., L, Mexicali, Mexico
Sofia Lopez Acosta led the Griffs’ defense over the weekend, at they defeated Iona College and Manhattan College. The junior recorded a team-leading 14 digs in the win over Iona, and bested that mark with 25 digs in a four-set victory over Manhattan on Sunday. The 25 digs proved to be her new-season best. She finished the two-match set with a 5.57 digs per set mark and added one kill, one service ace, and six assists. She nearly averaged an assist per set, coming up just shy with a 0.86 mark.
Rookie of the Week
Claire Leonard, Canisius
Fr., OH/MB, Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf
Claire Leonard posted seven kills and just two errors in a win over the Gaels on Saturday. In a win over Manhattan, the freshman tallied a season-high 21 kills and a .302 hitting percentage. She was also posted 10 blocks over the course of the two matches. Leonard registered 4.00 kills, and 1.43 blocks per set this past weekend for Canisius.
