No. 1 Monmouth University (14-3-2, 9-1 MAAC) defeated No. 4 Siena College (11-8, 6-4 MAAC), 3-1, to advance to the 2017 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship game. The Hawks play in the MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship final for the second-straight season.
Monmouth Notes:
- The Hawks face No. 2 Manhattan College, Wednesday, November 1 at 12:00 p.m. from Field 17 live on ESPN3.
- Today’s win marked the first time since October 8, 2014 at Manhattan, that Monmouth registered a come-from-behind win when trailing after the first half of play. The Hawks tallied three goals in the second half, en route to the comeback win.
- Sophomore midfield/forward Lexie Palladino notched two goals, which marked her first-career multi-goal game. The sophomore scored the Hawks’ first goal in the 55th minute from 20 yards out. She later added a second score in the 77th minute from 18 yards out. Both of Palladino’s tallies were unassisted. The goals were her third and fourth of the season.
- In the 78th minute, red-shirt sophomore forward Madie Gibson found the back of the net with a header off a feed from junior midfield Allie DeLuca. Gibson’s goal was her sixth of the season.
- Since 2013, Monmouth has seven wins in the MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship, the most among any team in the league over the span.
- The Hawks registered 27 shots, 12 shots on goal, and six corners. Monmouth improved to 51-5-3 in MAAC regular season and championship play since 2013.
Siena Notes:
- The Saints took an early, 1-0, lead on a goal by sophomore back Madi Belvito in the 77th minute. Belvito’s goal was her first of the season, a header off a corner from junior forward/midfield Gabby Albano.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado made nine saves.
- Siena registered nine shots, two shots on goal, and seven corners.

No. 2 Manhattan College (10-6-3, 6-2-2 MAAC) knocked off No. 3 Quinnipiac University (9-7-3, 5-2-3 MAAC), 3-2, to advance to the 2017 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship. The Jaspers are set to compete in the Women’s Soccer Championship game for the second time in the last three seasons.
Manhattan Notes:
- The Jaspers take on No. 1 Monmouth University, Wednesday, November 1 at 12:00 p.m. from Field 17 live on ESPN3.
- Manhattan recorded three goals in the first half. The 2017 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, senior forward Erica Modena tallied the game’s first goal in the third minute on a breakaway. The goal was her 11th of the season and third of the MAAC Championship. Modena now has six career goals and three assists in three career MAAC Championship games.
- Sophomore forward Arianna Montefusco recorded a pair of goals. Her first tally came in the 10th minute off a feed from junior forward Emma Saul. The sophomore later scored in the 27th minute and was assisted by Modena. The multi-goal game was Montefusco’s second of the season (first came against Fairfield, October 14).
- Junior goalkeeper Kelly DiGregorio made seven saves in net, including a stop on a penalty kick that was attempted by Quinnipiac’s Nadya Gill.
- Manhattan registered 26 shots, 13 on goal, and attempted five corners.
Quinnipiac Notes:
- The Bobcats recorded two goals in the second half, the first came in the 34th minute. Freshman back Hannah Reiter scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by junior midfield Madison Borowiec and red-shirt sophomore back/midfield Kylie Lance.
- Borowiec followed with a goal in the 72nd minute, her fifth of the season, and was assisted by the Co-MAAC Rookie of the Year Kelsey Goldring.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Myszewski stopped 10 shots in goal.
- Quinnipiac’s season ends after it advanced to the MAAC Championship semifinals for the second consecutive season.
