Young & Crawford Named Student-Athletes of the Week

Colleen Young took home some international hardware earlier this month, including her first ever gold medal, as she competed in the 2017 Mexico City World Para Swimming Championships. Young competed in five events, winning a total of three medals. Young started off strong, winning a bronze medal in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:13.11 on the first day of competition. The following day, Young won the silver medal in the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:33.40 and capped the event with a gold medal in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, clocking in with a championship record time of 1:17.21.

Men’s basketball

Crawford shot 52.2 percent (12-for-23) in two games this week on the way to a scoring average of 18.0 points per game in addition to 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest for the Iona College men’s basketball team. In the week's opener against Yale, he netted a career-high 24 points with six rebounds and two assists in the win before posting 12 points and five rebounds at Madison Square Garden against St. John's.
