Monmouth University to Host 2018 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship
EDISON, NJ – The reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Lacrosse Champions, Monmouth University, will host the 2018 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship from the newly renovated Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, NJ.
The top four teams in the conference compete in the championship beginning with semifinal action on Thursday, May 3 with the championship final taking place on Saturday, May 5. Both semifinal contests air on ESPN3 with the championship final airing on ESPNU, for the second-straight season.
“We are extremely excited to host the 2018 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship at Kessler Stadium,” Monmouth Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil said. “We welcome the opportunity to showcase our new facility and beautiful campus to the national lacrosse community. We look forward to working with everyone associated with MAAC Lacrosse to put on a first-class event.”
The new stadium features more than 4,200 seats, including 800 chair-back seats. The facility includes full concourse with concession stands and bathrooms, a state-of-the-art press box, multimedia booths, coaches’ booths and a ticket office.
Monmouth University claimed the 2017 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship, the first in its program history, with a 9-8 defeat of Marist College. Tyler Keen was named championship MVP.
