Player of the Week

Miranda Magana, Quinnipiac

Jr., INF, Santa Paula, CA/Santa Paula

Quinnipiac University junior Miranda Magana earns her first MAAC Player of the Week award. Magana hit .562 (9-16) with one home run and five RBI over the course of a five-game stretch last weekend. The junior started her week by slugging her first homer of the season and driving in three runs on Friday, February 17 versus Oakland. In Quinnipiac’s second game of the day on Friday, Magana tallied three hits, which included a double and a RBI vs. Central Michigan. Magana had three multi-hit games over the five-game stretch. She posted a .588 on-base percentage and .938 slugging percentage in a 3-2 week for the Bobcats.  

Pitcher of the Week

Casey Herzog, Quinnipiac

Jr., P, Wappingers Falls, NY/ Roy C Ketcham High School

Quinnipiac University junior pitcher Casey Herzog went 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA (four earned runs/19.1 innings pitched). The junior struck out 15 and walked four in four appearances (two starts) for the Bobcats. Herzog tossed a complete game shutout in her first start of the season on Friday, February 17 vs. Central Michigan. The Wappingers Falls, NY native tossed 7.0 innings and struck out nine in the Bobcats’ 3-0 victory. In her second appearance of the season on Saturday, February 18, Herzog earned a save in 1.0 inning of work en route to a 3-2 victory over Villanova.

Rookie of the Week

Cassie Ho, Canisius

Fr., OF/C, Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani

Canisius College freshman Cassie Ho hit .417 (5-12) with two doubles, a home run, six RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base as the Golden Griffins took part in the First Pitch Classic, hosted by Charlotte. In Canisius’ 6-4 win over Bowling Green on February 17, Ho went 2-2 with a double and a three-run homer. She had a double and two RBI in a 9-8 loss to Charlotte on February 18, and she scored an insurance run in the eighth inning against St. Bonaventure on February 19, as the Blue and Gold scored a 3-1 win over their long-time rivals. All six of her RBI last week came with two outs and she ended the week by posting a .500 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage.
