Player of the Week

Rebecca Freeman, Marist

Sr., C, Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville

Senior catcher Rebecca Freeman tied NCAA records for homers (three) and RBI (11) in a single-game in the Red Foxes’ 14-10 victory over Savannah State University in the final game of the Black & Orange Classic, hosted by Mercer, on Sunday, February 28. Freeman’s final homer was a walk-off grand slam in the seventh inning. For the week, the senior hit .611 (11-18) with three homers, 14 RBI, seven runs scored, a slugging percentage of 1.111, and an on-base percentage of .619. In Marist’s five games this week, she had multi-hit contests in four of them as the Red Foxes went 3-2 in the tournament. She also had a stolen base, two walks, and a sacrifice fly. Defensively, Freeman threw out two runners attempting to steal.

Pitcher of the Week

Megan Beiermeister, Marist

So., P, Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon

Marist sophomore pitcher Megan Beiermeister finished this past week with a 2-0 record and 1.05 ERA, recording victories in both of her appearances. In a start against Fort Wayne, she permitted just one run over 5.0 innings in Marist’s 7-1 triumph. In a relief outing against Savannah State, she finished the game with 1.2 scoreless innings, and earned the win as Marist prevailed in the bottom of the seventh by a score of 14-10. She entered the game with the score tied at 10 apiece in the sixth, and a runner on second with one out. She stranded the runner, and went on to toss a scoreless seventh.

Rookie of the Week

Ali Milam, Marist

Fr., INF/OF, Goleta, CA/Dos Pueblos

Freshman Ali Milam hit .286 (4-14) with one home run, four RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a stolen base. She had a .571 slugging percentage for the week. In a 7-1 win over Fort Wayne on February 25, Milam went 2-4 with a double, RBI, and a stolen base. Later that day, she hit her first collegiate home run, a three-run shot in the first inning of a 10-0 win over Savannah State. On February 26, she had a single against Fort Wayne, and a run scored plus a sacrifice in a triumph over Savannah State.
