Saint Peter's Men's Basketball Advances to 2017 CIT Championship Game With 77-51 Defeat over Furman

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Peacocks are headed to the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament Championship game after defeating Furman 77-51 in the semifinals.
Saint Peter’s outshot the visiting Paladins 56 % to 25% in the first half, taking a 37-19 lead into halftime and never looked back. 2016-17 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, Chazz Patterson scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half. The best defensive team in the MAAC, who held opponents to 61.6 points per game, held Furman to 51 points on 36.5 % shooting.
Nnamdi Enechionyia caught the hot hand in the second half. He scored a season-high 18 points with 12 of those 18 coming from three-point range. Saint Peter’s led wire-to-wire in this contest. The Peacocks outscored Furman 39-24 from three-point range.
All-MAAC First Team selection Quadir Welton finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds to record his 8th double-double of the season. Antwon Portley provided a boost off the bench for the Peacocks, connecting on four three-pointers and finished with 13 points.
Saint Peter’s will take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the 2017 CIT Championship Game. Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, March 31 at 9PM on the CBS Sports Network.
