Fran Kinsey, Iona

Sophomore outfielder Fran Kinsey helped the Gaels to a 3-1 week by producing at least two RBI in all four games. He finished the week with a .438 batting average that included seven hits (7-for-16), 11 RBI, two doubles, a triple, three runs scored, a stolen base and a pair of walks towards a .500 on-base percentage and a .688 slugging percentage. Kinsey also added three assists from the outfield that included two throws to home plate to prevent runs for Rider throughout Sunday’s doubleheader. In Wednesday’s non-conference 9-1 victory at NYIT, the sophomore went 3-for-5 with a double to help pick up four RBI. In the three-game series against Rider, he helped the Gaels to a 2-1 weekend series victory with four hits in three games along with seven RBI.
Pitcher of the Week
Bill Maier, Iona
Sr., 6-3, RHP, Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central
Senior right hander Bill Maier helped the Iona College baseball team to a 7-2 series opening victory against Rider on Saturday by logging seven innings with eight strikeouts, no earned runs, no walks and scattering six hits to earn the victory with 105 pitches.
Rookie of the Week
Danny Long, Monmouth
Fr., 5-11, SS, Sellersville, PA/Pennridge
Long posted his best week of the season, hitting .429 and driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 in the first game at Canisius with a double and three RBI’s, before adding two more hits and a walk in game two. On Sunday, Long homered and completed the week with a .714 slugging percentage in addition to playing a perfect shortstop.
