Monmouth University Women Earn Their Fourth Straight Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Lawrenceville, NJ – The Monmouth University Women's team claimed their fourth consecutive Outdoor Track & Field Championship with an impressive 267 total points, at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.  The Hawks won a total of seven events on the day.

Monmouth took the top two spots in the 400m Dash with Chandi Piiru finishing in first and Antoinette Isekenegbe taking second place as the Hawks finished with 22 points in the event.  Andrea Olsen from Monmouth set a new championship record in Women's 400m Hurdles with a time of 59.57, while the Hawks claimed a total of 17 points in the event.  Monmouth then took first place in both the 4x800m and the 4x400m to finish the day. 

Rider University finished in second with 139.50 points, placing first in two out of the three field events on the day including the Triple Jump and Discus Throw.  Jessica Lee of Quinnipiac broke her own championship record set yesterday in the 100m Hurdles by .01 seconds, crossing the line in 13.76 seconds. 

The Women's Rookie of the Meet in track events is Gemma Nuttall from Iona College and in the field events is Fidele Jules from Rider University.  The Most Outstanding Performer in track events is Cassandra Grill from Iona College and in the field events is Carly Timpson from Quinnipiac University.

Monmouth University Head Coach Joe Compagni was named MAAC Women's Head Coach of the Year.
