EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced Siena College’s institutional honorees to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll, in which honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 16.

Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2017 induction class. A dinner event will be on Saturday, September 16 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees.

Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”

Marc Brown ‘91
Siena’s all-time career scoring leader with 2,284 career points, Brown led Siena to three national postseason tournament appearances highlighted by the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1989. He scored a program NCAA Tournament record 32 points – including the game-winning free throws with three seconds remaining – to lead Siena to an 80-78 upset of Stanford.

Nicknamed “Showbiz,” Brown was a 1989 Sporting News and both a 1991 Associated Press and United Press International All-American Honorable Mention. He was named the 1991 MAAC Player of the Year and was also tabbed a First Team All-MAAC and MAAC All-Tournament Team selection in each of Siena’s first two seasons in the conference. He had previously been named the 1988 North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year, and a 1989 All-North Atlantic Conference First Team honoree.

A 1998 Siena Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Brown also ranks as the program’s all-time career leader in scoring average (18.6), assists per game (6.5), and field goals made (850). He also stands second all-time in program history in assists (796), fourth in both steals (221) and three-pointers made (224), and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.423).

Following a 15-year professional playing career overseas, Brown has spent the past 10 seasons as the head coach at Division III New Jersey City University.

Laura (Menty) Menges ‘08
Menty ranks fourth all-time in Siena Women’s Basketball history with 1,779 career points, and is one of just two Saints (Melanie Halker) to lead the team in scoring in all four seasons. A 2013 Siena Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, she also ranks second all-time in program history in free throws made (508), tied for second in field goal percentage (.538), and sixth in field goals made (634).

Menty was the 2005 MAAC Rookie of the Year, and earned First Team All-MAAC acclaim in both 2007 and 2008. She was also tabbed a Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association National Player of the Month Honorable Mention selection for January 2008.
