Favre and Polishchuk Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Junior Lea Favre averaged 17 points and six rebounds last week as the Rider University women's basketball team went 1-1 in non-conference play. For the week, Favre shot an impressive 66.6 percent from the field (14-of-21) and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the charity stripe, while three total steals and three assists. In a win over in-state rival NJIT, Favre poured in 20 points to go along with a career-high three assists and six rebounds. She closed the week with 14 points and six rebounds against Navy. Both of Favre's 20-point games in her career have come against NJIT.

Polishchuk has led the Peacocks so far in the season with six individual top finishes, the most among the team on the year. He posted the top times in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke at the NJIT Invitational, then he won the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke in the home opener on November 3 against St. Francis Brooklyn. He followed those performances up with victories in the 100 breaststroke and 400 IM at the USMMA Memorial Invitational on November 17. Polishchuk and the men's team are out to a 4-0 start overall and a 1-0 record in the MAAC for the second straight season.
