Monmouth Track and Field Sweeps Weekly Awards, Murphy Now Top Ten in NCAA for Shot Put

Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Khalid Slocum, Monmouth
Jr., Annapolis, MD/Annapolis
Slocum registered two wins and a second place finish to lead the Hawks to a win at the Angry Birds Invitational at Lehigh University. He won the 60-meter dash with a IC4A qualifying time of 6.94 seconds and also won the long jump with a mark of 23'0.5". The junior also went on to finish second in the 200-meter dash in 22.49 seconds. 

Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Allie Wilson, Monmouth
Gr., Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven
Wilson paced the Hawks to a victory at Lehigh University by winning two events at the Angry Birds Invitational. She began the day by winning the mile while also qualifying for the ECAC Championships by crossing the finish line in 4:56.16. Wilson was also a part of the distance medley relay team that won the event in 12:01.17.
 
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Corey Murphy, Monmouth
R-Sr., Yaphank, NY/Longwood
Murphy, the reigning Male Field Performer of the Week, turned in another successful performance by finishing as the top collegian finisher in the shot put. His mark of 60'6.75" puts him in a group of nearly a dozen NCAA athletes to eclipse the 60 foot mark in the shot put so far this season.
 
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Allison Taub, Monmouth
Sr., Holland, PA/Council Rock South
Taub, last week's Field Performer of the Week, one upped herself this week as she broke a Monmouth track and field record with a shot put mark of 15.30 meters. This is now the best mark in the MAAC this season. Taub’s throw beat the second placed athlete by more than seven feet.
