Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Sr., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Senior Justin Carey was a force in the pool once again last weekend for the Broncs in a dual meet with Lehigh. Carey won all four events in which he participated and also broke a pool record. He opened his day with a win as part of the 200-medley relay. His time 22.68 in the 50 back to open the relay was a new pool record. Carey also added first-place finishes in the 100 free (45.72), 100 fly (49.33) and the 100 back (51.00). He currently has the top time in the MAAC in the 100 back, 50 back, 100 free and the 100 fly. He is the only swimmer to break 50 seconds in the 100 fly this season.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Dillon Walles, Rider
Jr., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Junior Dillon Walles continued his impressive start to the season last weekend for the Rider University men’s swimming and diving team. In a dual meet with Lehigh, he won both the 1M and 3M diving events. It marked the third straight meet in which he swept the diving events. He posted a score of 303.74 in the 1M and 328.28 in the 3M. His scores qualified him to compete in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kayla May, Rider
So., Columbia, MD/ Oakland Mills
Sophomore Kayla May had a big day in the pool for the Rider University swimming and diving team last week in a dual meet with regional rival Lehigh. May won three events for the Broncs, thanks to touching first in the 200 free (1:54.47), 200 back (2:06.23) and the 100 back (58.36). She currently has the top time in the MAAC in the 100 back, the 200 back and the 200 free.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Meg Tomayko, Rider
Sr., Murfreesboro, TN/ Siegel
Senior Meg Tomayko had a strong weekend on the boards for the Broncs in a dual meet against regional rival Lehigh. Tomayko finished second in the both the 1M and the 3M. In the 1M, Tomayko posted an NCAA Zone A Qualifying score of 269.78. She also had a mark of 258.52 in the 3M.
