2019 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championship Preview

EDISON, N.J. (Oct. 31, 2019) – The 2019 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Monmouth University in Holmdel, New Jersey at Holmdel Park on Nov. 2. On the men's side, Iona College looks to win its 29th consecutive MAAC Championship Title, while the Gaels look for their fourth-straight title on the women’s side.
 
The women’s 6k race begins at 11:00 a.m. and the men’s five-mile race starts at noon.
 
The Iona men’s cross country team seeks to continue their championship reign dating back to 1991. Iona’s Liam Dee received the MAAC Most Outstanding Runner award last year while his brother, Jamie Dee, received the MAAC Most Outstanding Rookie award for the Gaels.
 
On the women’s side, Iona won the 2018 MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championship and Egle Morenaite was named the MAAC’s Most Outstanding Runner. The Gaels aspire to win their 14thoverall championship title.
 
Runners on the men’s side to lookout for who have received weekly recognition throughout the season are Canisius’s Nick Neamtu, Iona’s John Millar and Wynn Johnson, Manhattan’s Aidan Donahue and Ryan Lindrud, and Siena’s Evans Kibet and Aidan Gillooley.
 
On the women’s side, runners to be on the lookout for who have received weekly recognition throughout the season are Iona’s Gemma Nuttall, Manhattan’s Andria Scaglione, Marist’s Gianna Tedeschi, Monmouth’s Sammi Ragenklint, Quinnipiac’s Shannon Goria, and Siena’s Olivia Lomascolo.
