2019 MAAC Men’s Soccer Major Awards and All-MAAC Teams Announced

EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 11, 2019) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2019 Men’s Soccer All-MAAC Teams and Major Award winners, as voted by the league’s 11 head coaches.
 
Saint Peter’s University headlines the postseason announcements with seven All-MAAC selections, led by Offensive Player of the Year Dominic Laws and BSN Sports Coach of the Year Julian Richens.
 
Laws led the league in shots (73), points (29) and goals (11) en route to the regular season title. The junior was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, along with teammate Jordan Jowers. Richens got the unanimous nod from his peers after leading the Peacocks to a 9-1 conference record and the No. 1 seed in the 2019 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship.
 
Quinnipiac University also boasts seven All-MAAC selections, including Rookie of the Year Tomas Svecula. Svecula sits in the top-10 in points (16), goals (6) and game-winning goals (2). The rookie helped lead the Bobcats to the No. 2 seed alongside All-MAAC First Team selection Eamon Whelan.
 
Marist College’s Samuel Ilin takes home the Goalkeeper of the Year award. The sophomore posted a 72.2 save percentage and tallied 65 saves during the regular season. Ilin joins five of his teammates as an All-MAAC selection.
 
Iona’s Malcolm Moreno collects Defensive Player of the Year honors. Moreno has started in 13 games for the Gaels this season and 53 in his career. The senior helped lead his squad to an upcoming appearance in the semifinal of the MAAC Championship.
