Atlantic City, N.J. (Nov. 21, 2019) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), in conjunction with the Atlantic City Board of Education, announced last month the commencement of the "MAAC Gives Back" community outreach program, the 26th year the conference has done so. The year-round program pairs Atlantic City students with women's and men's basketball student-athletes and coaches from the 11 MAAC core member institutions.

Earlier this week, all partner schools (list below) were hand delivered personalized banners highlighting their school logo as well as MAAC member institutions. Banners will reside in school hallways and gymnasiums leading up to the 2019 MAAC Basketball Championships at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall from March 10-14, 2020. The five-day event will feature the league basketball championships, ESports Championship, MAAC Fan Fest, MAAC Band Jam, MAAC 'n Cheese Fest, Spirit Squad Showcase and more.

"I want to again thank Atlantic City Superintendent of Schools Barry Caldwell for his vision that MAAC schools and their basketball student-athletes can provide role models that will motivate school children to aspire for greatness in academics and sports," said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. "The placement of banners that include MAAC and AC School logos highlight this partnership".

The Monmouth University women's team and the Saint Peter's University men's and women's teams have already completed the first two school visits of the year. The Peacocks visited Texas Avenue School, while the Hawks were welcomed by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Complex. Both visits were highly successful, with school students interacting with the MAAC student athletes, who spoke on the importance of school and basketball in their lives. Students were taught the value of "NBA", Never Being Absent from school.  Quinnipiac University is the next MAAC institution scheduled to visit Richmond Avenue School in December.
