2019 MAAC Volleyball Championship – Championship Game

Top seeded Fairfield University (24-5, 17-1 MAAC) claimed the 2019 MAAC Volleyball Championship with a 3-1 win over sixth seeded Quinnipiac University (14-16, 8-10 MAAC). The win for the Stags gives them their eleventh title, more than any other MAAC school. As MAAC Champions, Fairfield receives an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Stags will find out who they will face on Sunday, Dec. 1 during the NCAA Selection Show at 8:30 p.m. First Round games are scheduled for Dec. 5-7. For more information on NCAA Volleyball, visit

Fairfield Notes
- Fairfield took a back-and-forth first set 25-22. The first set included 10 ties and four lead changes, the last of which saw the Stags grab back-to-back points to take a 16-15 lead.
- The Stags followed with a dominant second set, not giving up the lead once in a 25-18 win.
- After falling in the third set, Fairfield won the fourth 25-16. Kaylie Butts delivered the final kill that sent the Stags to the 2019 NCAA Volleyball Tournament.
- Manuela Nicolini recorded 39 helpers, 14 digs, and 10 blocks for a triple-double. Her efforts landed her a spot on the MAAC All-Tournament Team, also being named the 2019 MAAC Volleyball Championship Most Valuable Player.
- Four different Stags had double-digit kills in Luci Albertson (13), Mayda Garcia (12), Joelle Battles (10), and Laura Seeger (10). Garcia also recorded 10 digs, giving her a double-double.
- Albertson and Garcia joined Nicolini as MAAC All-Tournament Team selections.
- In three matches against the Bobcats this season, the Stags gave up only one set.
Quinnipiac Notes
- Quinnipiac didn’t back down after falling behind 2-0, winning the third set 25-22.
- Georgia Tselepi led the Bobcats with 17 kills. Morgan Sherwin also finished in double figures with 10.
- Aryanah Diaz (13), Olga Zampati (12), and Alejandra Rodriguez (10) led Quinnipiac in digs.
- Diaz and Nicole Migliozzi led the Bobcats in assists with 23 and 16, respectively.
- Zampati and Rodriguez were named to the 2019 MAAC All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
