EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 4, 2019) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2019 Women’s Soccer All-MAAC Teams and Major Award winners. All awards were voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.

Monmouth University’s Lexie Palladino was named the Offensive Player of the Year. The senior had a large role in supporting the Hawks as the highest-powered offense in conference play, which averaged 3.2 goals per game against MAAC opponents. A Medford, New Jersey native, Palladino finished the regular season with 18 points off of eight goals and two assists. The forward’s eight goals led the team, and her seven goals during conference play topped the MAAC.

Monmouth’s Anna Lazur was named the Defensive Player of the Year. The senior captain started in all 16 games for the Hawks, anchoring the league’s best defense. With Lazur in the backfield, the Hawks defense allowed a league-low 0.24 goals per game. Lazur played in all but 15 minutes of action for Monmouth this season.

The 2019 MAAC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year award went to Monmouth’s Amanda Knaub. Knaub finished with 12 shutouts, five more than any other MAAC goalkeeper. In 10 MAAC games, Knaub allowed only four goals. The senior’s 0.20 goals against average (GAA) and .875 save percentage in conference play topped the MAAC. The Enola, Pennsylvania native played an integral part in leading the Hawks to the first ever 10-0 season in conference history.

Fairfield University’s Josie Horosky and Quinnipiac University’s Meaghan Phillips were named 2019 Co-Rookies of the Year. Horosky started in all 18 games for the Bobcats, logging over 1,600 minutes. The rookie’s first ever collegiate point came on Oct 12 against Manhattan College, where she registered an assist in the 2-0 victory. Phillips started in 16 games for the Bobcats, including all 10 conference matches. The rookie boasted the second-best GAA in the MAAC at 0.88, posting a .814 save percentage while stopping 57 shots.

Fairfield’s David Barrett was named the 2019 MAAC Women’s Soccer BSN Sports Coach of the Year. Barrett led the Stags to a 10-5-3 overall record in only his second season with the team, going 7-2-1 in conference play. The Stags enter the 2019 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship as the No. 2 seed. The strong season for Fairfield comes after the team went 2-6-2 in conference play a year ago, missing the MAAC Championship. Barrett’s team led the MAAC in goals, finding the back of the net 43 times over 18 games.
