Taliaferro, Fritz Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week

Landon Taliaferro, Fairfield

Taliaferro set a school record with 10 three pointers, which led to a career-best 34 points as the Stags defeated Texas A&M at the Orlando Invitational. For the week, he shot 50 percent from the floor (22 of 44), 45 percent from 3-point range (14 of 31) and averaged 20 points per game. He netted 10 of 15 attempts from behind the arc and 12 of 18 overall against Texas A&M. He started the week with a team-high 16 points against USC, shooting 50 percent from the floor (5 of 10) which included four three pointers. He followed with a co-leading 10 points against Davidson in 33 minutes of work.
Rookie of the Week
Jacco Fritz, Canisius

Canisius freshman Jacco Fritz helped lead the Griffs to a pair of wins last week, as he averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 70.0 percent (7-for-10) from the field and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. In the team's win at UIC on Nov. 26, he scored six points and grabbed three boards to go with a career-best five assists, and he then followed that effort with 16 points, six rebounds and two assists in the team's win over Mercer on Dec. 1. Fritz has now won Rookie of the Week three weeks straight.
