Iona's Cluess Named The Rock MAAC Coach of the Year
ALBANY, NY – Iona College’s Tim Cluess is the 2018-19 The Rock MAAC Coach of the Year. It is the second time that Cluess has earned coach of the year honors. Cluess’ other coach of the year award came in 2013-14.
This season, Cluess led the Gaels to a fourth regular season title in his nine seasons on the bench in New Rochelle, New York. The Gaels’ last regular season title came back in 2014-15.
The regular season title for the Gaels secured the top seed in the MAAC Championship. The Gaels are the three-time defending MAAC Champions. No men’s team has ever won four straight MAAC Championships.
Iona opens the MAAC Championship on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. against No. 9 Saint Peter’s.
