Iona’s Crawford, McGill, and Agee Collect All-Met Honors
NEW YORK, NY - Iona College's trio of E.J. Crawford, Rickey McGill, and Tajuan Agee earned All-Met honors as announced by the Met Basketball Writers Association Monday.
Crawford and McGill earned All-Met First Team honors while Agee earned a spot on the All-Met Third Team. The trio helped the Gaels become the first MAAC men's basketball program to capture four straight MAAC Championships and appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Crawford and McGill collected All-MAAC First Team honors this past season while Agee was a member of the All-MAAC Second Team.
Crawford averaged 17.7 points per game, which was second in the MAAC. The Hartford, Connecticut native was also efficient, shooting 53-percent from the floor and 85-percent from the free throw line against MAAC foes.
McGill averaged 15.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game to help the Gaels claim their first outright MAAC Regular Season Title since the 2014-15 season. The Spring Valley, New York native became the first men's basketball player to be a four-time MAAC Champion. The senior was named All-Met Second Team last season.
Agee led the MAAC in rebounding at eight a game and scored 13.2 points, which ranked 10th in the league. The Chicago, Illinois native was in the top 15 of the MAAC in free throw percentage (72.8%), blocked shots (23), offensive (1.8) and defensive rebounds per game (6.2).
McGill and Crawford will be honored at the 86th NIT/MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 30.
