Player of the Week
Stella Johnson, Rider
Sr., Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic
Senior guard Stella Johnson had another strong week as Rider defeated both Niagara and Canisius on the road. She averaged 24 points, over nine rebounds, five assists and over four steals per game. She shot 44% from the field and 41% from three-point range. She opened the week with 33 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and five assists in a win at Canisius. She followed that up with 15 points, nine rebounds five assists and two steals at Niagara. Stella still leads the nation in scoring with over 26 points per game. The double-double against the Griffs was her fourth of the season, with all four having come in conference play. This is Johnson’s record eighth MAAC Pepsi Zero Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
 
Rookie of the Week
Emily LaPointe, Manhattan
Fr., Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy
LaPointe led the Jaspers with 14.5 points per game this week, shooting more than 57% from the field and over 45% from three. Against Fairfield on Jan. 23, she had a team-high 17 points, shooting 60% from three, and 63.6% from the floor. In a 54-32 win over Iona on Jan. 25, LaPointe had a team-high 12 points, along with five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.
