EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 24, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2020-21 men’s and women’s basketball broadcast schedule featuring six ESPNU regular season contests.

Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame head coach Rick Pitino and the Iona Gaels will play host to King Rice and the Monmouth Hawks for the first ESPNU matchup of the season. The showdown is set for Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks swept the Gaels last season, winning 73-61 in West Long Branch and 94-88 in New Rochelle. The ESPNU matchup is a highlight in the opening weekend of MAAC conference play.

Back-to-back MAAC ESPNU games are set for Feb. 5 and 6, featuring Fairfield University and Manhattan College. Friday, Feb. 5 will feature the men’s programs, with Steve Masiello’s Jaspers hosting Jay Young’s Stags at 9:00 p.m. at Draddy Gymnasium. The action continues early Saturday morning on the women’s side, with Heather Vulin’s top-ranked preseason team hosting second-ranked Fairfield and the Preseason Player of the Year in Lou Lopez-Senechal at 10:00 a.m. The Stags swept the Jaspers on the men’s side last year in the regular season, but Manhattan got the last laugh with a 61-43 victory in the First Round of the Hercules Tires MAAC Basketball Championships. On the women’s side, the two teams split their 2019-20 season series against each other with each squad collecting a win at home.

Three additional regular season men’s basketball games are slated to air on ESPNU on Friday nights in January, February and March. Any game scheduled for those evenings can be flexed on to ESPNU as the MAAC Wildcard Game.

ESPN and the MAAC will announce the wildcard game 21 days prior to the scheduled game. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.

Games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through the ESPN App, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. All events will be available for replay on the ESPN App. In this year of scheduling disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, fans are advised to check MAACSports.com and team specific websites for updated broadcast and game schedules.

The 2020-21 campaign concludes with the 2021 Hercules Tires MAAC Basketball Championships from Mar. 9-13 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. Stay up to date with all MAAC basketball by visiting MAACSports.com/basketball and by following @MAACHoops and #MAACHoops on Twitter.
