Rider Men’s Golf, Albany Women’s Golf Top 2020 Preseason Polls
Edison, N.J. (Feb. 9, 2020) – Rider University men’s golf and University of Albany women’s golf were dubbed the 2020 preseason favorites, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Rider finished third in the 2019 MAAC Men’s Golf Championship. The Broncs return a pair of 2019 All-MAAC Team selections in Austin Devereux and Jake Sollon.
Saint Peter’s University was voted into second place (64 points), Iona College in third (62) and Canisius College in fourth (53). Siena College (51) rounded out the top five on the men’s side.
Albany looks to win its third consecutive MAAC Women’s Golf Championship. Head Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween has collected MAAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons.
Quinnipiac University (73 points) followed behind in second, University of Dayton (62) in third and University of Hartford (53) in fourth. Siena (39) took fifth in the women’s poll, as well.
Quinnipiac women’s golf gets the spring action started today in Boca Raton, Florida at the FAU Winter Warm-Up, hosted by Florida Atlantic University. Two-time reigning MAAC Men’s Golf Champion Iona starts the season at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor on Feb. 15-16.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship return to Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida for the sixth consecutive year in 2020. The three-day event is set for April 24-26.
