Shaheen Holloway Named “The Rock” MAAC Coach of the Year
Atlantic City, N.J. (March 11, 2020) – Saint Peter’s University’s Shaheen Holloway was named the 2019-20 “The Rock” MAAC Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
In his second season at the helm, Holloway led the Peacocks to a 14-6 conference record and the No. 2 overall seed in the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Championships after being voted to finish 9
th in the preseason.
Under his leadership this season, his student-athletes have picked up 10 MAAC Rookie of the Week selections, five All-MAAC selections and Defensive Player of the Year, Sixth Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
Now, he looks to lead the Peacocks to a quarterfinal win over reigning MAAC Champion Iona College tonight at 9:30 p.m. A win would secure Saint Peter’s a spot in the semifinals and bring the Peacocks one step closer to their first championship since 2011.
Prior to his time in Jersey City, Holloway spent eight seasons as the associate head coach at his alma mater, Seton Hall.
