Atlantic City, N.J. (March 11, 2019) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced Lynn Milligan of Rider University as the 2019-20 Women’s Basketball “The Rock” Coach of the Year.

Selected as the preseason No. 3 team, Milligan guided Rider past expectations. Milligan led the Broncs to a 25-4 overall record, going 18-2 in MAAC play after finishing with a 19-13 overall record, going 14-4 in MAAC play a year ago. The season culminated with the Broncs being named co-regular season champions for the first time in school history, entering the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship as the top overall seed.

Milligan’s Broncs started the season with some signature wins, taking down the Big Ten’s Penn State and the Big East’s Xavier and Georgetown. Rider ran a stretch spanning 14 games, stretching from Dec. 7 to Feb. 1 without collecting a loss. In Lawrenceville, Milligan led Rider to a nearly perfect 12-1 record.

Finishing her 13th season in Lawrenceville, Lynn Milligan coached the nation’s top scorer in Stella Johnson. Johnson averaged 24.4 points per game to pace the NCAA and claim the regular season scoring title. Johnson was a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection while teammates Lea Favre and Amari Johnson were All-MAAC Second Team selections.

The 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship continues through to March 14 in the event’s inaugural year at Atlantic City’s Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
