Atlantic City, N.J. (March 12, 2020) – No. 1 Siena and No. 2 Saint Peter’s advance to the semifinals of the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Championships.

Key Moments:
  • Pauly Paulicap scored seven of Manhattan’s first 10 points to start the game.
  • Siena took a 34-25 lead into the locker room. All-MAAC First Teamers Jalen Pickett and Manny Camper combined for 13 points through the first 20 minutes.
  • The Saints led by as many as 18 in the second half.
  • Camper’s 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists earned him the Tropicana Player of the Game distinction. 
Notables:
  • Paulicap now has 10 career double-doubles after posting one in each of the last two games.
  • Siena extends its winning streak to 10. The last loss for the Saints came on Feb. 2 at Saint Peter’s.
  • Siena’s Jalen Pickett was voted the 2019-20 MAAC Player of the Year, as announced by the MAAC at this morning’s Postseason Awards Show.

Key Moments:
  • Saint Peter’s took a 22-18 lead into halftime. Iona’s Tajuan Agee led all scorers at the halfway mark with eight points.
  • There were eight lead changes and seven ties during the game, including a 54-54 tie in the final seconds.
  • Freshman Aaron Estrada hit the game-winner for the Peacocks to put them up 56-54 over the four-time reigning MAAC Champions.
  • Quinn Taylor was named the Tropicana Player of the Game after his double-double performance. Taylor had team-highs in points (13) and rebounds (11). 
Notables:
  • All three games between the Gaels and the Peacocks this season have come down to the final possession. The Peacocks swept the series by a total of six points.
  • The Peacocks handed the Gaels their first loss in the MAAC tournament since 2015 when they fell to Manhattan in the championship game.
  • Shaheen Holloway was named the 2019-20 “The Rock” MAAC Coach of the Year, as announced this morning. Saint Peter’s won four out of the five MAAC major awards, becoming the first program in MAAC history do so. (Holloway – Coach of the Year, KC Ndefo – Defensive/Sixth Player of the Year, Estrada – Rookie of the Year)
