2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship Field Set

Edison, N.J. (March 6, 2020) – The field is set for the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship. The 11-team tournament will take place from March 10-14 in the event’s inaugural year at Atlantic City’s Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
 
The top-five teams in the bracket all earn a bye in the first round. No. 1 Siena College (19-10, 15-5 MAAC) secured the top seed and the regular season title after winning nine straight to close out conference play.
 
First round action tips off on Tuesday, March 10 with a slate of three games. No. 8 Fairfield University (12-19, 8-12) and No. 9 Manhattan College (12-17, 8-12) will start the action at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN3. The Stags are 2-0 against the Jaspers this season, including a 66-50 win on the road to close out the regular season. The winner of that contest will face No. 1 Siena on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.
 
No. 7 Iona College (11-16, 9-11) takes on No. 10 Canisius College (12-19, 7-13) in game two on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Gaels swept the regular season series against the Griffs. No. 2 Saint Peter’s University (17-12, 14-6) will await the winner of that matchup in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.
 
No. 6 Niagara University (11-20, 9-11) and No. 11 Marist College (7-22, 6-14) close out the first round with a 9:00 p.m. meeting. The Purple Eagles look to avenge a pair of regular season losses to the Red Foxes. No. 3 Rider University (18-12, 12-8) is slated to play the winner of the No. 6/No. 11 matchup on Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m.
 
Closing out the quarterfinals, No. 4 Monmouth University meets No. 5 Quinnipiac University for a Thursday night showdown at 9:30 p.m. The two split their regular season meetings, each winning at home.
