Iona’s Hopkins and Manhattan’s Gambino Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Jac Hopkins wrapped up the 2020 indoor track & field season by finishing second overall in the men’s 3K with a time of 8:05:22. It was a new personal best for the senior, making him one of the top-two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference finishers in the race.
Adriana Gambino

Softball
Adriana Gambino (Stamford, CT / Westhill), who was recently named to the COSIDA Academic All-District First Team for the second-straight year, finished the year with a 3.98 cumulative GPA in civil engineering. A team captain this season, Gambino batted .343 with seven RBI and a team-high five doubles in the Jaspers' truncated season. As a junior in 2019, she batted .291 with 44 hits, nine doubles, a team-best three triples and 16 RBI. In February, Gambino was named one of 30 candidates for the softball Senior CLASS Award and is a member of the Epsilon Sigma Pi honor society for the School of Engineering, as well as Tau Beta Pi, the national honor society for students in engineering and Chi Epsilon, the national honor society for students in civil engineering. On May 14, she won Manhattan's Brother Azarias Michael Medal for civil engineering and was named as a finalist for the Joseph J. Gunn Alumni Medal, the College's highest undergraduate honor.
