Edison, N.J. (June 25, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has come to an agreement with Mainline, an esports tournament platform provider, for the 2020-21 season. The conference continues to expand its reach into the collegiate gaming world after a successful first year of recognizing esports as a MAAC club sport.

“The MAAC is proud to welcome Mainline as a partner to our esports platform,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “We look forward to continuing to grow our esports presence and provide a memorable experience for our student-athletes. Mainline’s platform development and management will be integral this upcoming year as we look to provide a steady stream of up-to-date information on competition throughout the regular season.”

In the agreement, Mainline will provide the MAAC with a web application customized to MAAC brand standards and guidelines, provide back-end support to league administrators for the administration and execution of MAAC online leagues and tournaments, and provide support to league administrators for set up, operation, and administration of each league or tournament, inclusive of rules, guidelines, and dispute resolution.

"We couldn't be happier to be partnering with the MAAC to provide them with their own conference branded esports platform to help manage their competitions across their member universities,” said Mainline Founder and CEO, Chris Buckner. “The MAAC has been a first-mover in collegiate esports, leading the way in providing their students an enhanced competitive esports experience. Mainline is proud that our esports platform can support the MAAC in these efforts providing additional value for the conference, its members, and their sponsors."

The 2021 MAAC Esports Championships presented by New Jersey Army National Guard will be held in the Adrian Phillips Theater at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on March 12 and 13. After the postponement of the 2020 championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournaments were held in an online format earlier this spring, with Marist College winning the Overwatch, Rocket League, and League of Legends titles and Siena College winning the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate title.
